Elevate Youth California network continues to expand across the state with Innovation partners

Congratulations to 12 Elevate Youth California community partners that have received awards up to $750,000 to pilot and evaluate innovative practices in youth-led activism, peer support and mentoring in communities disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs. Awarded partners will participate in an evaluation using the appreciative inquiry method to identify ways to improve the results and conditions for substance use prevention in California. Funding available for Youth Substance Use Disorder Prevention Program: Innovation Track

With grants up to $750,000 over two years and nine months, this funding opportunity will support community-based organizations, Tribal organizations and county behavioral health agencies throughout California to pilot and evaluate innovative practices in youth-led activism, peer support and mentoring in communities disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs. Awarded partners will participate in an evaluation using the appreciative inquiry method led by a third-party evaluator contracted by The Center at Sierra Health Foundation to identify ways to improve the results and conditions for substance use prevention in California. Applications were due by January 6 at 1 p.m.

Elevate Youth California substance use prevention network expands across the state

Congratulations to 61 Elevate Youth California community partners that have received awards up to $1 million to develop or increase youth substance use disorder prevention, outreach and education. With more $52.7 million in funding and technical assistance, the community-based and Tribal organizations will increase youth understanding of substance use disorder and reduce community and individual stigma of use and treatment. Funding also focuses on youth activism, mentorship and peer-led supports that lift up youth empowerment and leadership with a focus on impacting policy, systems and environmental change. Funding available for Youth Substance Use Disorder Prevention: Standard Track

With grants up to $1 million over three years, this funding opportunity will support community-based organizations and Tribal organizations throughout California that focus on youth activism, support youth and young adults through mentoring and/or peer-to-peer support to educate communities, change social norms around substance use, and prevent harms and risks associated with substance use. Applications were due by September 27 at 1 p.m.

Elevate Youth California network expands with new Capacity Building Cohort

Congratulations to 18 Elevate Youth California community partners that will join the new Capacity Building Cohort! With a total of $5 million in funding, the awarded grassroots community-based organizations and Tribal organizations will implement innovative projects for substance use disorder prevention, with a focus on youth social justice, peer support and mentoring in low-income communities of color, including Tribal communities and LGBTQ communities. Elevate Youth California Funding Opportunity: Supporting Capacity Building for Community Organizations

With grants up to $300,000 over two years, this funding opportunity will strengthen the capacity of emerging grassroots community-based organizations and Tribal organizations throughout California to use innovative programs/practices for substance use disorder prevention. The programmatic activities should use a social justice youth development approach and must be focused on the following: 1. Investing in youth empowerment, leadership and development and 2. Implementing programs through the cultural lens of the impacted community. Applications were due by June 23 at 1 p.m.

Elevate Youth California substance use prevention network expands across the state

Congratulations to 32 Elevate Youth California community partners that have received awards up to $1 million to develop or increase youth substance use disorder prevention, outreach and education. With nearly $29.7 million in funding and technical assistance, the community-based and Tribal organizations will increase youth understanding of substance use disorder and reduce community and individual stigma of use and treatment. Funding also focuses on youth activism, mentorship and peer-led supports that lift up youth empowerment and leadership with a focus on impacting policy, systems and environmental change. Elevate Youth California Round 2 funding update

Thank you to all of the organizations that submitted applications for the second round of Elevate Youth California funding. The Center at Sierra Health Foundation will review all applications using the selection and evaluation criteria in the request for applications. The Center plans to announce awards in early November.
